Best Moments of the Day 8

seonghuhn | January 10, 2009 6:28 PM

I have not done this for awhile.

Today the kids and I went to the Farmer’s Market and then we went to a new park, Raynor Park.

Good moments were:

  1. Watching Isaac and Dylan share popcorn at the Farmer’s Market.
  2. Seeing the kids enjoy the new park.

But the best moment was seeing how Ji Seon appreciated the time off I gave her.  I also enjoyed how much she laughed at one of my jokes.  It’s been a long time since that has happened.  :-)

Isaac Puts Ji Seon to Sleep

seonghuhn | January 6, 2009 6:40 PM

Yesterday I was putting Victoria down for a nap. I suggested to Ji Seon that she try to get Isaac to take a nap since he had not slept well the night before. So Ji Seon took Isaac to his room while I took Victoria to her room.

When I came out later I saw that the door to Isaac’s room was closed and that it was very quiet. I assumed that Isaac and Ji Seon were both sleeping. Later I heard the door to Isaac’s room open and close very quietly. I assumed it was Ji Seon and when I saw Isaac walk by nonchalantly I had to force myself not to laugh. Then I peered into Isaac’s room and saw Ji Seon sleeping on Isaac’s bed. The whole situation amuses me still.

Merry Christmas

seonghuhn | December 25, 2008 1:47 PM

I hope all of you had a Merry Christmas.  In the morning we opened presents.  Dylan and Isaac enjoyed all the GeoTrax toys they received.  Ji Seon appreciated all the clothes I bought her though they were the wrong size.  You would think I would know what size to buy her after knowing her for almost 15 years.  I appreciated the clothes Ji Seon bought me.

Later in the morning we went to Pastor Abel and Annie’s home for a small “Christ Mass”.  We celebrated communion, shared what we are thankful for and what we desire for 2009, and prayed for each other.  My children, especially the boys, were of course screaming and frolicking the whole time.  Victoria insisted on drinking my communion wine which was real wine so I gave her some.  I thought she was only going to take a small sip and then spit it out so I had my hand out.  Unbeknownst she actually took a few big sips and then spat out everything.  I am glad Abel and Annie did not mind the wine stains on their sofa and carpet.  Sorry guys! :-(

In the afternoon we plan on video chatting with my sister’s family and my parents.  And then we will call Ji Seon’s parents.

Tonight we’ll be going for dinner at the Law’s house with another GrX family.

Though we are not near our blood family it is nice to have our church family here to celebrate Christmas.

Merry Christmas everybody!

Best Moments of the Day 4 – 6

seonghuhn | December 12, 2008 2:07 PM
  1. Having a dinner date with Ji Seon at the Tofu House and enjoying soon-doo-boo ji-gae.  Not so sure it sat well with my stomach later though.
  2. Watching Victoria and her new best friend, Summer, say hello to each other.
  3. Finally going to bed after being up since 1 AM.  Isaac woke me up and afterwards I could not sleep.

Best Moments of the Day 3

“I take my children everywhere, but they always find their way back home.”
- Robert Orben

I love my kids but today’s best moment has to be the time I am spending now alone.  Ji Seon took the kids to a friend’s for a play date and now I am enjoying peace and quiet while doing work and watching on the internet the Raptors get pummeled by the Cavs.

This morning was Isaac’s Christmas performance at his preschool.  Isaac stood in the front row and just looked around while his classmates sang.  Kind of like what Dylan did at that age except Isaac didn’t even try to do the motions.  Isaac looked quite content though.

Grateful Day 8

seonghuhn | November 30, 2008 7:54 PM

Today started off with me in a dark cloud. I was not sure why though I guessed lack of sleep was the primary concern, having been woken up again at 5 AM by Isaac. I thought about those less fortunate like my friend whose brother died in a freak accident or my friends who learned their unborn baby has Trisomy 18.  But not surprisingly, thinking of other’s misfortune does not actually cheer you up.

Ji Seon, Isaac and Victoria stayed home sick while I took Dylan in my bike trailer.  At church my plan was to only make the courtesy gestures, sit alone during worship and then come home quickly.  But maybe God didn’t like that plan because he had someone sit beside me, Dan whose wife was also at home sick.

I did not really cheer up until I came home when Isaac and Victoria greeted us with hellos.  Somehow that dispelled the dark clouds.  And that would be the first thing I am grateful for today.

  1. I am grateful that Isaac and Victoria cheered me up when we returned from church.
  2. I am grateful that Isaac and I were able to take a nap this afternoon.
  3. I am grateful that Ji Seon got a break this afternoon while I stayed with the kids and that they seemed to have a pretty good time.
  4. I am grateful that Ji Seon’s parents and brother arrived home safely in Seattle.
  5. I am grateful that the kids got to video chat with Ilene back in Arlington.
  6. I am grateful for God’s grace, it’s always there, never runs out.
